Heejun Han's serious side didn't impress "American Idol" voters this week. He was eliminated from the competition Thursday.
Hollie Cavanagh and Skylar Laine joined him in the bottom three.
Heejun received lots of air time during the early phases of the competition, thanks in part to his goofy personality. Yet when it got to the live shows on "Idol," Heejun hit a problem. His vocals weren't as buzzworthy as his personality.
Arguably, last week was the beginning of the end for Heejun. His goofy take on Billy Joel's "My Life" was enough to make judge Steven Tyler call him out on stage. Heejun tried to redeem himself with a serious ballad this week -- "A Song for You" -- but the performance highlighted a harsh reality. Without humor, Heejun is, well, just kind of average.

Weigh in: Was the right singer eliminated this week?
Also on Thursday's results show, Nicki Minaj performed "Starships" and narrowly avoided a wardrobe malfunction while wearing a bikini top. Scotty McCreery performed "Water Tower Town" and learned that he's sold 1 million copies of his album.
Eight singers remain in the competition: Hollie Cavanagh, Skylar Laine, Jessica Sanchez, Phillip Phillips, Joshua Ledet, Colton Dixon, Deandre Brackensick and Elise Testone.
