The World's Largest Picnic

We've had some good weather the past couple days -- sunny, but not too hot and perfect for picnicking.

I like picnics, even though the picnicking window in Georgia is rather small. Only a few more weeks before the bugs and the heat become unbearable.

In celebration of Earth Day on April 22, the Nature Conservancy is organizing "Picnic for the Planet," an attempt to set the record for the world's largest picnic. Cool, huh? Gotta love a world record centered around food.

There are Picnic for the Planet events scheduled all over the world, including one at Oxbow Meadows from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on April 22. Bring your own picnic spread, watch nature films and explore the center. Admission is $5. You can find more information here. And if you're looking for ideas on what to pack in your picnic basket, check out some of these recipes.

Hopefully the world's largest picnic does not attract the world's largest ants -- or rain. Fingers crossed.
