A Columbus man has been identified as a suspect in the Friday shooting death of Charles Willis at Lawyers Lane and Seventh Street, police said Saturday.
Police Lt. John McMichael said investigators are looking for Oscar Senior, 31, of an Oakley Drive address. He is accused of firing a shot into Willis’ 2007 Chevy Cobalt about 4:46 p.m. Willis was taken to The Medical Center where he was pronounced dead of a gunshot wound at 8:12 p.m., more than three hours later.
Senior will be charged with one count each of murder in the death of Willis and aggravated assault in the firing a gun at a 30-year old passenger in Willis’ car. After gunfire erupted, the passenger told police he was forced to open the door and roll out of the vehicle to avoid getting shot.
McMichael said Senior was identified as a suspect through the investigation, talking to witnesses.

When asked if the victim knew the suspect, McMichael said police don’t have a firm connection between the two men.
“They were acquainted with each other,” he said. “Beyond that we don’t know what connection they have.”
