Attend Midtown's Party on the Lawn Sunday, watch Big D movies at Carmike film festival

Grab a lawn chair or blanket and head to Midtown for Party on the Lawn, 3-6 p.m. Sunday at Wynnton Arts Academy, 2303 Wynnton Road.

Columbus State University's G.E.N.E.S.I.S. Gospel Choir and the Maneuver Center of Excellence Jazz Band Combo will perform at this free event.

For kids, expect face painting, balloon animals, ice cream, lemonade and candy.

Purchase samples from MidTown dining spots -- Country Club of Columbus, Dinglewood Pharmacy, the Dinner Divas, MidTown Cakes, Sugga's and soon-to-open Cupcake Cuties for about $2 to $3 each.

Before the Lawn Party, get some exercise at the MidTown Historic Bike Around. It's a 4.6 mile bicycle ride that starts at 1 p.m. Kids are welcome on the tour that includes nine historic stops. Big D film festival

The "2012 Big D Film Festival" continues today at Carmike 15. Pricing for each day's festival movie is $5 with a special $5 concession combo of a large drink and large popcorn.

Saturday, April 21: "The Lorax" 12:45 p.m., 3 p.m., 5:20 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Sunday, April 22: "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" noon, 3:30 p.m., 7 p.m. 10:30 p.m.

Monday, April 23: "The Vow" 1 p.m., 3:30 p.m., 7 p.m., 9:30 p.m.

Tuesday, April 24: "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows" 1 p.m., 4 p.m., 7 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.

Safe Kids Baby Expo

Parents with young children, expectant parents and grandparents should check out today's Safe Kids Baby Expo from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Columbus Civic Center.

Ten minute "baby school" classes, diaper derbies, a daddy diapering contest and other games are sure to popular. Kids are invited to bring their teddy bears to be cared for in a baby ambulance. Guests can shop in the Baby Market Place and at noon, the latest in baby and toddler fashion will be modeled in a fashion show. Seminar topics include labor and delivery, prenatal and newborn care and birth control after baby.
