"American Idol" viewers didn't have a whole lotta love for Elise Testone this week.
Elise was eliminated from "Idol" Thursday night. Hollie Cavanagh and Skylar Laine joined her in the bottom three. Fifty-eight million votes were cast this week, host Ryan Seacrest said.
Weigh in: Did the right singer go home?
This week's results don't surprise me. Gloating alert: Elise was my pick for elimination. I think her song choices this week -- "I Want It All" and "Bold as Love" -- were too obscure to make the crucial young voters throw some support her way.
Yes, Phillip Phillips chose an obscure song, too. But he has teenage heartthrob appeal in his favor.
I enjoyed Elise's voice, but I think she forgot "Idol" is a personality contest just as much as a singing competition. She often seemed distant while performing and came across as aloof while interacting with the judges at times.
After being eliminated, Elise repeated her performance of Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love."
Five contestants remain in the competition: Hollie Cavanagh, Skylar Laine, Phillip Phillips, Jessica Sanchez and Joshua Ledet.
Also on Thursday's show, "Idol" alum Stefano Langone sang his new single, "I'm On A Roll." Katy Perry performed "Part of Me." Queen tribute act The Queen Extravaganza opened the show with "Somebody to Love."
Oh yeah, tickets for the "Idol" tour apparently go on sale May 11. Will you go?
