Skylar Laine, this season's aspiring Miranda Lambert, was kicked off "American Idol" Thursday night. Hollie Cavanagh joined her in the bottom two.
Weigh in: Did the right singer go home?
I'm not sure. Skylar added some necessary energy to this season of "Idol," and I think that with a little fine-tuning, she could still have a career as a contemporary country music singer. My biggest criticism of Skylar? I think she often played it a little too safe this season.
I especially felt that way with her song choices this week: "Fortunate Son" and "You Don't Have to Say You Love Me." The songs didn't let her offer much vocal uniqueness.

Four contestants remain in the competition: Hollie Cavanagh, Joshua Ledet, Phillip Phillips and Jessica Sanchez.
Also on Thursday's results show, Coldplay performed "Paradise" and "Every Teardrop is a Waterfall." Carrie Underwood sang "Blown Away."
Comment and share your reaction to this week's elimination. Are you surprised Phillip is still around? Will Hollie sneak into the top three? And was Jessica's "Proud Mary" dress really THAT revealing? (The final question is in response to a critique Jimmy Iovine gave Thursday night.)
