KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Chandler Brooks was an instant hero for the Columbus Lions on Saturday.
Signed as a replacement for Trey Crum, who is unavailable for three games due to prior obligations, according to a press release from the Lions, Brooks hit a 37-yard field goal as time expired to lead Columbus to a 58-55 win over Knoxville.
Columbus quarterback Randy Hippeard led the Lions, going 26-of-42 for 231 yards and four touchdowns. He also rushed for three touchdowns.
Maurice Dupree caught two of the scoring passes and has a league-leading 26.

Anthony Merritt (Shaw High) had two interceptions.
Columbus will play at Richmond on Saturday. The Lions are 5-3 and a game behind second-place Richmond (6-2). Albany leads the PIFL at 7-1.
