For the second year in a row, a Georgia singer will compete in the "American Idol" finale. Phillip Phillips of Leesburg, Ga., will battle Jessica Sanchez for the "Idol" title next week.
Of course, that means Joshua Ledet was eliminated on Thursday's results show.
I expected a Joshua-Phillip finale. I'm surprised by Jessica's fan base: I didn't think she delivered any "wow" performances Wednesday night.
I'm not sure who has the advantage going into the big show. Phillip has avoided the bottom three all season, which counts for something. Jessica was technically eliminated one week, but "saved" by the judges. Since then, her fan base has supported her with full force.

Nearly 90 million votes were cast this week, according to host Ryan Seacrest. Also on Thursday's results show, Lisa Marie Presley sang "You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet" and Adam Lambert sang "Never Close Our Eyes."
