The annual Miss Georgia Scholarship Pageant comes to Columbus in June. Contestants arrive on June 16 with preliminary competition beginning June 20. The new Miss Georgia will be crowned on June 23 at the RiverCenter for the Performing Arts. The winner competes at the Miss America pageant in January, 2013. Several competitors have Columbus connections including Amarinda Trear, Miss Columbus State University.

Why is your platform special to you? My nephew Christian was diagnosed last year with Autism, and I have seen what music has done for him and his ability to concentrate and express himself. It is something that I want to share with other Autistic children and their families.
What advice would you like to share with teen girls who are struggling with school? Getting an education is the best thing you can do for yourself! You can't let the social or personal problems get in the way of your education, which can be one of the hardest things you may ever have to do. But if you can push through, walking across that stage for graduation will be one of the most rewarding experiences of your life, because you didn't let those problems get in the way. Persevere and push through! I believe in you.
How would you describe your personal style? It really depends on the day! When I have the extra time to get ready or it is a special occasion, I love getting all "glammed" up, but for my every day life I would say I'm more of a trendy causal. Cute but practical!
How do you stay fit? I try to keep changing up what my work outs are so I don't get bored! I love doing yoga and ZUMBA when I can, but I also do some spin classes or the good old treadmill. I also try to eat very healthy. I eat a Gluten free diet so I eat a lot of vegetables and grilled chicken and fish. I also try to minimize sweets to only special occasions!
What's your favorite healthy meal and what are your favorite treats? I love cooking my two fillets of grilled garlic Whiting with a cup of chopped steamed asparagus and broccoli, because I am a seafood lover! For snacks and such, I love fruit and almonds!
What stresses you out and how do cope with the stress in your life? I make sure that I take "me" time. Whether it's hanging out with friends or reading a book, I make sure to put the stressful stuff away and spend some time doing something that relaxes me!
