her cocktail: Frozen margarita is made with sorbet

The summer heat always makes me crave ice cream, snow cones and ice pops. A frozen margarita is a grown-up summer refresher that will certainly cool you off in this June heat. This delicious concoction is made with blood orange sorbet (it's like a push-up with a kick). Experiment with your favorite sorbet to make a personalized version of this cocktail.

Frozen Margarita with Sorbet

1 lime cut into wedges

Kosher salt to rim glasses

1 cup crushed ice

8 lime ice cubes (see note)

1 cup blood orange sorbet

1/2 cup silver tequila

3 ounces triple sec

2 ounces orange juice (preferably fresh)

2 ounces amaretto

In a blender, combine ice, lime ice cubes, sorbet, tequila, triple sec, orange juice and amaretto. Blend until slushy. Pour into glasses salt-rimmed glasses. Sip and relax.

Note: To make lime ice cubes, juice enough limes to make 2 cups of lime juice. Pour juice into ice cube tray. Freeze overnight. This is worth the effort. Freezing the juice makes the drink extra slushy! If you're short on time, however, you can just add 1/2 cups of fresh lime juice and an extra 1/2 cup of crushed ice.
