Gigi's Cupcakes opens at the Landings shopping area in Columbus

Gigi's Cupcakes celebrates its grand opening today until 8 p.m. at the Landings shopping center (2511-B Airport Thruway). Regular hours will be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday-Saturday.

The shop is next to the recently opened Sweet Frog frozen yogurt shop and close to the new play area. Cupcakes cost about $2.75 each. Today you can walk a red carpet and soak up the celebratory vibe of the store. Prizes and contests are planned for later this afternoon and into the evening and on the shop's Facebook page.

Different flavor cupcakes are served each day, so check out the menu here to see what day your favorite flavor will be available. Today's options include Carrot Cake, Wedding Cake, Chocolate Salted Caramel, Chocolate Chip Cheesecake, Lemon Icebox, Cinnamon Roll, Midnight Magic, Miss Princess, Strawberry Shortcake, White Chocolate Raspberry Frappe, White Midnight Magic and Scarlett's Red Velvet.

We had an informal and highly unscientific taste test in the office today with six different flavors and the winner was Scarlett's Red Velvet with the runners up being Lemon Icebox and Carrot Cake. The ladies favored Lemon Icebox and the men preferred Carrot Cake. That must mean girls like lemons and boys like carrots, right? (Hey, I warned you this was an unscientific test.) Luckily for Gigi's both men and women enjoy cupcakes!
