Columbus City Clerk Homer Davis threatened to resign Monday after Commissioner Richard E. Skinner complained that Davis refused to supply him information regarding signatures on petitions for a new mixed-drink referendum.

Americus Negroes added 320 more names to the Sumter County voting rolls Monday in a day of confusion, anger and an impromptu rally.

More Negroes planned to show up today at the county registration office and the Ku Klux Klan announced it will hold another demonstration later this month.

Post To Close River

Fort Benning officials have announced the closing of the Chattahoochee River to all traffic Wednesday from 2 to 5 p.m. and Thursday from 3 to 5:30 p.m. for an Infantry School river crossing problem.

A rehearsal of the problem will close the river Wednesday while the actual problem will take place the following day.
