The Senate Finance Committee approved Thursday a bill to provide $10,000 of cost-free life insurance to U.S. military men serving in Viet Nam.

Smiths Water Authority officials Thursday were optimistic about getting the necessary 625 water-user contracts by the tentative deadline set for Saturday at 6 p.m. EST.
