Protest of Planned Parenthood to be held Saturday
Chattahoochee Valley United for Life is holding a rally Saturday morning to protest Planned Parenthood.
"We will be out on the sidewalk letting our voices be heard," spokeswoman Rachael Lane said of the event that is scheduled for 9-11 a.m. at 6783 Veterans Parkway.
She said the effort is part of a national day of protest that is taking place at Planned Parenthood offices and abortion facilities across the United States to raise awareness about allegations against the organization on the trafficking of aborted baby parts. Lane said there is no Planned Parenthood office in Columbus. They chose the location because it has high visibility.
The national protest is headed by Citizens for a Pro-Life Society, Created Equal, 40 Days For Life and the Pro-Life Action League.
Lane said she would be pleased if at least 100 people showed up Saturday. In a news release, Lane said people can't look to Washington and state governments to solve the problem.
"Concerned local citizens from the Chattahoochee Valley will be sending the message that it's well past time to defund Planned Parenthood for its heartless treatment of women and barbarous acts to their deceased unborn babies," Lane said in the release.
