Columbus voters will decide in a second referendum on Oct. 13 whether they wish the city to permit the sale of alcoholic beverages by the drink.

Poisoning Trial

Prosecutor Joe Ray of Cuthbert today, in the poison murder trial of Mrs. Shirley Blankenship, called on five witnesses concerning the activities of the defendant and Mrs. Martha Bush on March 24, the day Mrs. Bush was found dead. Slender, brunette Mrs. Blankenship, 36, is on trial in Early County Superior Court here charged with killing her late employer with mercuric cyanide.

Courthouse

City Commission's proposed formula for splitting costs of a new courthouse is for the city to pay one-third and Muscogee County to pay two-thirds. Commissioners indicated Monday they would favor this division of financial participation in a new Columbus--Muscogee County courthouse.
