Mosley runs for three TDs as Glenwood breezes

Alabaster, Ala. -- Brandon Mosley took over at halfback on offense and despite a heavy rain, rushed for 160 yards and three touchdowns leading the Glenwood Gators to a 26-6 victory over Kingwood Christian Friday night.

This was the Class AAA Region 2 opener for the Gators and puts them in the lead for a potential playoff berth in Class AAA. The Gators are now 2-1 on the season while the Lions fell to 0-3 overall, 0-2 in the region.

While Moseley was scoring touchdowns, the Glenwood defense was also doing their part in the victory as they limited the Lions to six total yards of offense. The Lions only score came on a fumble recovery as Kerry Thompson picked off a Gator fumble and ran 52 yards for the only Kingwood score of the night in the second half.

Mosley staked the Gators to a 6-0 lead in the first quarter with his first TD, a 20-yard run. Quarterback Carrington Huddleston extended that at halftime with a TD run and Quan Holt added a two-point conversion for a 14-0 halftime lead.

Meanwhile, the Gator defense forced several fumbles and the Lions lost three in the first half, including setting up Glenwood's second score.

Following Kingwood's lone score, Mosley again broke open on a 35-yard run to make it 20-6 and sealed the victory with his third TD in the final stanza with 4:52 left to seal the win.

For the game, Glenwood racked up 322 yards of total offense.

Besides Moseley's 160 yards, Quan Holt ran for 88 yards on 16 carries and Huddleston added 65 more and passed for 20 yards as well.

Glenwood's leading rusher, Latavious Calhoun was on the sidelines with his arm in a sling and his return for this year is uncertain.
