lst Cav Gets First Taste of Battle

Sharp fighting raged tonight in the central highlands between U.S. airborne troops and Viet Cong guerrillas and a report from the scene said units of the newly arrived U.S. lst Cavalry (airmobile) Division got their first taste of battle.

Gov. Carl E. Sanders told 25 rookie state patrolmen Friday that they should arrest him if they caught him speeding. "If you see me, or my driver, violating the law on the highway, I want you to enforce the law the way it should be," the governor said.
