Way Seen Clear for Drinks Vote
The United Christian Laymen's Assn. is getting squared away to appeal Judge J. Alvan Davis' decision on mixed drinks to the Georgia Supreme Court. But the odds appears 10 to one today that Columbus will have its second referendum Oct. 13. Superior Court Judge Davis Thursday afternoon turned down 14 local residents' request that the election be put off until the seven Supreme Court justices in Atlanta decide whether Columbus can have another referendum.

With his eye on another presidential race, Gov. George Wallace set out today to force through the legislature a constitutional amendment to let him run for governor again.
Loyalty Oath
A three-judge federal court ruled today that Georgia's loyalty oath required of college professors is unconstitutional, but declared the question moot since the oath has been revised.
