Due in City
Roger L. Stevens, chairman of the advisory board of the National Council on the Arts, will be in Columbus Sunday to address the first Georgia Theater Conference at a special session in the restored Springer Opera House. The Theater Conference, which will be attended by representatives of some 50 community and college theaters over the state, will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday of this week in conjunction with the formal opening of the Opera House built in 1871.
BYU: No 'Swimming'
You can't swim at Brigham Young University -- at least not on the dance floor. Student officers decided Monday night that the swim, jerk and "other suggestive fad dances that cannot conform to standards of the Mormon Church will not be permitted."
Education
Columbus city commissioners will open negotiations soon with Georgia Tech representatives with a view to securing a branch office of the school's Industrial Development Division for this city.
