Police Vow Drinks Crackdown
Columbus law enforcement officials today pledged strict measures against the illegal sale of mixed drinks after city voters Wednesday turned down a proposal to legalize the sale of whiskey by the glass. The vote was 8,475 to 8,106.
More Call-Ups
The organized Army reserve is being called upon to furnish more than twice as many men as originally anticipated for the "selected" reserve force brought to combat readiness for possible duty in Viet Nam.
Drinks Vote
Though it won at the ballot box Wednesday, the United Christian Laymen's Assn. plans to go back to the courtroom, claiming Columbus has no legal right to hold elections on mixed drinks. The laymen want to cut off any attempt at having the city's third vote on the subject, said their president today.
