Prison Terms For 3 GIs Of lst Cav
The Army has court martialed and sentenced to hard labor three members of the lst Cavalry Division for trying to refuse orders to accompany the unit to Viet Nam. An Army spokesman said the three refused orders on Aug. 12 to board a troop train at Fort Benning.
Vehicle Inspection
Some 20,000 frantic Muscogee County motorists today jammed garages and service stations as Georgia's safety inspection deadline was only hours away. After midnight Sunday, police will begin making cases against drivers of cars which do not carry the little yellow inspection sticker in the lower left-hand portion of windshields.
FBI vs. King
FBI director J. Edgar Hoover indirectly took another verbal swipe at Negro leader Martin Luther King Jr. today. Writing in the November issue of the FBI's law enforcement bulletin, Hoover said civil disobedience -- the favorite weapon of civil rights demonstrators -- will make the nation's crime problem worse and lead to anarchy.
