Two Phenix GIs Killed in Action

The U.S. Defense Dept. Thursday released a list of nine U.S. servicemen killed in action in Viet Nam, including two men with relatives in Phenix City. They were identified as Sp5 Charles R. Davis, husband of Mrs. Helen Davis, 603 Riverview Apts., and PFC Rodney C. Harris, husband of Mrs. Ruby L. Harris, 1313 10th Avenue.

Ruby Spared?

Jack Ruby, condemned to death for slaying Lee Harvey Oswald, assassin of President Kennedy, should be kept alive, Dist. Atty. Henry Wade said Thursday. He said he was willing to recommend the death sentence be commuted to life. Ruby shot and killed Oswald as millions watched on national television Nov. 24, 1963.

Vote Rights Bill

Georgia is expected to join the ranks of states who have initiated court action against the federal voter registration bill. This word came Thursday afternoon from Arthur K. Bolton, attorney general of Georgia, at a press conference in the Ralston.
