Wallace May Resign

Office To Run Again

Gov. Georgia Wallace made a "startling" announcement this week that he may resign before the end of the year, the Mobile Press Register said Sunday. The state constitution forbids an incumbent governor from succeeding himself or from running for the senate within a year of the expiration of his term.

Child Abuse

A new Alabama law has gone into effect designed to give increased protection to children from abuse and neglect.

'Bleed-In'

A University of Georgia drive to get donors to give blood for U.S. troops in Viet Nam has won so much support that plans for a "bleed-in" have been changed and pledges will be sought instead. Terry Woodward, Columbus freshman at the University and one of the founders of the "Isaacs Movement," said the Red Cross would be unable to handled the large amounts of blood that would be collected.
