U.S. 'Sealift' Due to Begin

A U.S. "sealift" that will ferry out some 2,000 refugees stranded at the Cuban port of Camarioca is expected to get going some time this week, but details were still up in the air today.

'Viet Nam Day'

A spectacular number of participants for Columbus' Viet Nam parade appears to be shaping up. More than 20,000 dignitaries, students, bands, citizens from Columbus, Phenix City and two other Georgia counties and one other Alabama county will participate, according to Frank Bond, chairman.

PC Stadium

Prospects for a new municipal stadium to replace the dilapidated structure at Martin stadium are uncertain, Mayor John W. Barbee told Phenix City Commission today. In response to a letter from the Red Devil Athletic Club at Central High School, which requested that the city build a 10,000-seat stadium, the mayor said. "We have at this stage no assurance that we will be able to construct any stadium seating at all."
