Russell to Run

For Re-Election

Sen. Richard Russell has written a number of friends in Columbus confirming plans to seek re-election next year and stating that he will announce his candidacy "at the proper time." In his letter, Russell discounted as "baseless" rumors that he would not seek re-election to the U.S. Senate, where he has served since January of 1933.

Christmas Toys

Christmas spirit has come early this year to a group of Fort Benning soldiers who are repairing toys for needy children. For seven years members of The Infantry School's Mortar Committee have worked diligently on a project they call "Operation Toy" to bring toys and other Christmas gifts to the underprivileged children in the Columbus-Fort Benning area.
