New War Casualty Notification Plan
The Department of the Army is taking a new look at its methods of delivering war casualty telegrams to next of kin. Rep. Howard (Bo) Callaway said Friday that the action stems from criticism in the Columbus area of the use of taxicab drivers to deliver the telegrams.
Education
Bids on approximately $90,000 worth of equipment to be purchased with federal funds available under Title I of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act were opened Friday by Muscogee County School District officials.

Four Georgians have been inducted into the state's Athletic Hall of Fame here. Bryan (Bitsy) Grant who became famed in the world of tennis; the late William Lawrence (Young) Stribling, a professional boxer who lost only 15 of 287 fights; Bobby Dodd, Georgia Tech's football coach for 21 seasons, and Charlie Trippi, former University of Georgia and professional football great, were honored at the group's annual banquet Friday night.
