Georgia Southern hires Tyson Summers as head coach
Dell McGee got one promotion to interim head coach for the Georgia Southern football team. But he will not get the ultimate promotion as the school announced Sunday it was hiring Tyson Summers as its head football coach.
Summers is currently the defensive coordinator for Colorado State.
McGee, a former Kendrick player and Carver coach, was named the interim coach last month when Willie Fritz left for Tulane.
McGee, who has been Georgia Southern's running backs coach for the past two seasons, will lead the Eagles against Bowling Green on Wednesday in the GoDaddy Bowl at Mobile, Ala.
