Aid Loss Threat In County Merger

If the city and county governments were to merge into one, would Columbus lose its share of $9.3 million that the state hands down to municipalities? That question came up Tuesday when city commission delved into consolidation -- a proposal soundly defeated by the voters in 1962.

GI Honored

An Army pilot who escorted three rescue helicopters through deadly Viet Cong fire at Dong Xoai last June received the Distinguished Service Cross Tuesday. Army Chief of Staff Gen. Harold K. Johnson pinned the award on Capt. William Fraker of Columbus at ceremonies in Saigon. The award is the second highest given by the U.S. armed forces.

Road Access

The board of directors of the Columbus Chamber of Commerce Tuesday drafted a resolution approving the extension of the limited-access feature of the Columbus-Manchester Expressway and re-elected its present slate of officers.
