Baby Girl First Of New Year
Shortly after midnight, a baby girl arrived at Martin Army Hospital, becoming the New Year's youngest area citizen and winner of the gift-filled "First Baby" contest sponsored by the Bayonet and the Ledger-Enquirer.
The five-pound 14-ounce boy was born to Pfc. Mack Smitherman and his wife Mary, of Baker Village.
