Ex-Gov. Patterson Will Seek 2nd Term
Alabama's quadrennial political free-for-all burst wide open today as former Gov. John Patterson qualified to run for a second term as the state's chief executive amid reports that he will be opposed by Gov. George C. Wallace's wife, Lurleen. Rumors have been flying thick and fast for months that Wallace will attempt to have his 39-year-old wife succeed him since he is constitutionally prohibited from seeking a second successive term.
