Teen-Age Drinking Sparks Legal Move

A report of drinking by teen-agers prompted Muscogee County Commission today to ask the legislative delegation for a law to make it illegal in this county for minors to possess alcoholic beverages. The commissioners, stirred to an all-stops-out attitude by stories of drinking among high school and junior high school boys and girls, also took steps to tighten up enforcement of existing laws.

Hurtsboro Fire

Flames this morning destroyed Dozier Hardware Co. in Hurtsboro and threatened to consume a major portion of the town's business district. But firemen managed to contain the flames and limit damage to smoke and water injury to several nearby buildings. No injuries were reported.

Hanoi Snubs Talks

North Viet Nam declared today it will consider any resolutions of the U.N. Security Council of Viet Nam as invalid, Tass reported. The Soviet news agency said in a dispatch from Hanoi the North Vietnamese Foreign Ministry said in a statement that "only the 1954 Geneva conference on Indochina is competent to deal with the United States military actions in Viet Nam."
