Grand Jury Studies Teen Drinking

Reports of drinking by teenagers will be presented Monday to the Muscogee County Grand Jury by representatives of the Muscogee County Parent-Teachers Association Council. Council officers appeared this week at meetings of city and county commissioners and earlier talked with judges, police officers, school officials and teenage leaders about the matter.

War Rally

A motorcade led by Columbus Mayor B. Ed Johnson headed for the "Affirmation: Viet Nam" rally in Atlanta will leave the Columbus College parking lot at 10 a.m. on Feb. 12. Sec. of State Dean Rusk will be the principle speaker at the rally. The Rev. Dr. Billy Graham will offer the invocation and Marion Anderson will sing the National Anthem.

Woman of the House

On her first day as a member of the Georgia House of Representatives, Rep. Janet Merritt of Americus was introduced by Speaker George T. Smith as the "sweetheart of the House." She didn't like it and wasted no time in letting Smith know about it. "I didn't come up here to be sweetheart of the House, and I asked him not to refer to me in that manner again," the lady lawmaker remembered today. And he hasn't.
