Torrential Rain Floods City

Soggy, water-laden clouds burst over Columbus today and belted the city with a record-setting rainfall. Rescue workers rowed at least 235 persons from the "Bottoms" area in south Columbus. Drivers found themselves trapped on streets and in underpasses. But the worst of it appeared over this afternoon, said weatherman Tom Floyd.

Governor's Race

Senator Harry Jackson's decision to stay out of the governor's race this year if Republican Congressman Howard (Bo) Callaway gets in appears to have all but eliminated the Columbus senator from the picture.

Viet Nam

Newsman Charles Black, Columbus Ledger-Enquirer military writer, today gave members of Congress a newsman's view of what is wrong with military operations in Viet Nam. Black, 43, recently returned from more than eight months with the lst Cavalry Division, addressed a small breakfast given by Rep. Howard H. Callaway, R-Ga.
