Joe Akridge has been missing for 1 year

It has been one year since her brother Joe Akridge vanished and Patricia Koonce said she is frustrated and “very depressed.”

“Somebody must know something,” she said on Thursday.

A meeting will be held 3 p.m. Saturday in his home at 5827 Valleybrook Road in Columbus. Flyers will be handed out to those who wish to help. A vigil will be held at 6 p.m.

Police have had no success finding Akridge who was 53 when he went missing on March 28. There have been no leads despite a $5,000 reward.

“Nobody has reported anything,” Koonce said. “We have hunted everywhere, woods, lakes.”

The mentally impaired man is about 5-foot-11 inches tall. He is a white man with brown hair and eyes. He was last seen walking to Dollar General on Amber Drive. Koonce said he walked to the store daily but would always return home before the day was over.

Akridge functions at a third grade reading level and was on prescription heart medication.

She described her brother as the “sweetest man in the world.”

“I just want to know what happened to my brother,” she said.
