The job of Muscogee County superior court clerk needs someone to come in and bring a new perspective says Ann Hardman.

Sunday, Hardman made her official announcement she will be opposing Linda Pierce who has held the office since 1989.

The election is May 24 with early voting beginning on May 2.

Hardman, 59, spoke to enthusiastic supporters in the parking lot of Midtown Shopping Center on Macon Road.

“It is time to bring consistent customer-centered service and leadership focused on building bridges within our local government to the office. People need to know when they want something from the clerk’s office they will get what they need in a timely manner. That has not always been the case,” she said.

She said the clerk’s office must be “modernized.”

“We must be committed to using the latest tools and best practices to increase the office’s efficiency and productivity. The office is currently technologically deficient,” Hardman said, adding she believes modernization can be accomplished without a huge price tag.

She said the city is “crying out” for such changes.

The theme of her campaign is “A Clerk You Can Count on.”

Hardman currently serves as CEO of two nonprofits, Faith Worship Center International in Columbus and River of Life International in Ashville, N.C. She is also the founder of the Impact Center in Columbus which provides leadership training.

Prior to her 23 years of service in ministry, she worked for more than 10 years at SouthTrust Bank and for 10 years at Pratt & Whitney.

“I have a lot of administrative and financial experience,” she said.

Hardman said she has developed leaders who can handle most of her pastoral duties.

“I will still supply inspirational messages,” she said.

Hardman said she is ready for a new challenge after 23 years of pastoral leadership.

“It is a job for which I am well prepared,” she said.
