Are you a music lover or a vintage collector? Visit these vinyl shops in Columbus

It’s rare to find someone who owns vintage items like VHS tapes an original Polaroid or anything before the 2000s. However, one vintage item that has made a sizable comeback in the past few years has been vinyl records and record players.

Fans of nostalgic music and those who just collect records for a hobby have a variety of old stores in the area and online shops to pick from in their search for new records. That being said, here are some shops in the Columbus area where you can buy vinyl records and more.

2nd & Charles

The popular bookstore chain has a reputation for selling all types of pop culture collectibles, toys, games, random merchandise, and (you guessed it) books. However, if you’re new to the chain or have simply never stepped foot in one, you may not know that they also carry a large selection of vinyl records and have four locations in Georgia: Augusta, Columbus, Kennesaw and Roswell.

Their in-store and online records can range from albums released in the 70’s, albums released in the past few years, and even movie/T.V. show soundtracks. Record prices range (delivery prices may differ) from about $28 to $60 and store locations stay open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday (11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sundays).

Blue Canary Records

This sole independent record shop in Columbus opened last year after the owner, Brian Cook, recognized there was no local vinyl shop for Columbus residents to go to. Cook started and carried out the concept of a cozy record shop, open to all ages in the community, with hundreds of records, CDs and cassettes from several eras of music.

In an interview Cook said, “The name ‘Blue Canary’ comes from lyrics from the song “Birdhouse in Your Soul” from the 1990 album ‘Flood’ by rock band They Might Be Giants.”

The store also features an arcade in the back of the store so it’s worth the visit for children as well. The store’s operating hours are as follows:

  • Tuesday - Thursday | 10 a.m. - 7 p.m.
  • Friday | 10 a.m. - 9 pm.
  • Saturday | 9 a.m. - 9 p.m.
  • Sunday | 12 - 7 p.m.
  • Monday | Closed

R&B Vintage

If you’re you’re looking to find a rare record and willing to drive out a bit, another option is R&B Vintage in LaGrange. R&B Vintage houses several vintage items, from jerseys to furniture, and hosts a large selection of music equipment. Among the scattered vintage items, you might find a few forgotten records from your favorite artists or underrated soundtracks from your favorite movies at thrifting-level prices.

Local vinyl fans not only buy, but also sell records at R&B. The constant rotation of an ever-growing collection of vinyl makes this shop a great one to visit frequently. The store’s operational hours are from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and closes on Sundays and Mondays.

Comeback Vinyl

The final shop on the list is primarily an online based record store, making it both convenient and versatile. The store offers records from an organized list of genres, record labels and exclusive releases. If you can think of any artist and any one of their albums, the probability that they have it is high.

Comeback Vinyl ships products directly to the customer’s address, but for those who prefer an in-person experience, they have a brick-and-mortar location in Alpharetta, Georgia, which stays open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. all week. Record prices range from $20 to $60 with the exception of collections and some exclusives.
