It’s the weekend again, and you’re trapped in your mom’s basement once more. You’re not sure how to appropriately waste your time, and you dislike thinking of ideas.
No problem. Print this page, sneak out the window and follow these simple directions for a satisfying life – or at least tolerable 48 hours.
Friday night head to the Columbus Cottonmouths game at 7:30 p.m. at the Columbus Civic Center. Bring about $25 to sate your evil desires and for the cost of the ticket and food.
Saturday will be a full day, so get some sleep. Hit the annual Friends of the Libraries book sale at the main library on Macon Road Saturday or Sunday, but I suggest Saturday so you don’t miss all the sweet deals on old Fritz Leiber books. It’s 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 2-4 p.m. Sunday.
Saturday evening, cruise over to the finals in the talent competition that will determine who gets to open for country star Gary Allan. Watch the hijinks from 7-10 p.m. at the Woodruff Gym on CSU’s main campus. Tickets are $10.
She ain't heavy
We're a month into 2009, and I'm sure your resolution to lose weight is probably as prominently displayed as the stray pennies under your sofa cushions. That's OK.
Turn things around by hanging out with Columbus native and weight-loss guru Alicia Ash. She'll sign copies of her book, "I Dropped 142 lbs in a Year and Lost 220 lbs in a Day," at 7 p.m. Friday inside The Impact Center, 1600 Blanchard Blvd.
Ash's book focuses on physical and emotional wellness, so you might get some advice on how to unload the weight of the loser you plan to meet at the First Friday Block Party later that night. You know the drill: One cover gets you into the majority of Broadway bars.
Wrap up your weekend by plopping down in front of TV for the Grammy Awards, which air 8 p.m. Sunday on CBS. Sure, you might be packing on a little more gut than you'd like, but you're nowhere near the impending train wreck that is Miley Cyrus.
