Looking for fireworks? Here's a roundup of some local events on July 4 weekend.

THURSDAY (JULY 1)

Annual Freedom Celebration: 7:30 p.m. EDT July 1. Opelika High School, 1700 Lafayette Parkway, Opelika. Inflatables, games and activities for children, music, skydivers, food, large fireworks display. 334-705-5560.

FRIDAY-SUNDAY (JULY 2-4)

July Fourth Celebration: Celebrate with games, watermelon eating contests and educational boat rides. 10 a.m.-3 p.m. July 2-4. Florence Marina State Park. $4, plus the $5 parking pass. 229-838-4706.

SATURDAY (JULY 3)

First Patriotic Parade: 10 a.m. July 3. The Landings, Airport Thruway. Parade for children and pets in strollers, bicycles, scooters or just walking. Prizes awarded. There will be music. Free. Lucy Jones, 706-256-4814.

Independence Day: 4-10 p.m. July 3. Stewart-Watson Field, Fort Benning. Free. Fort Benning gets its celebration started early. Features food vendors, inflatables, rides, the Silver Wing command exhibition, music, fireworks at 10 p.m. If the weather is bad, everything will be cancelled, but the fireworks will begin after dark on July 10. Sweet Land of Liberty Parade: 10 a.m. July 3. On the square, Downtown LaGrange. Free. 706-883-1670.

30th annual Independence Day Celebration & Fireworks Show: Pyne Road Park, LaGrange. Gates open at 10 a.m. July 3. Children’s play area open from 4-7 p.m. Fireworks start at dusk. $10 per carload. 706-883-1670.

Independence Day Celebration: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Westville, Lumpkin. Bluegrass music, barbecue for sale, blowing up the anvil, watermelon eating contest, greased pole contest, lots of races. 888-733-1850.

SUNDAY (JULY 4)

Thunder on the Hooch: “A God and Country Celebration.” Food, games and fireworks. Features young people performing faith-based and patriotic songs. 5-9:30 p.m. July 4. Lawn chairs and blankets allowed; coolers are not. Phenix City Amphitheater. Free. 334-291-4719.

Fourth of July Celebration: 1 p.m. VFW Post 5528, 9810 Lee Road 240, Phenix City. Hosts a horseshoe tournament for two-person teams. $5. Food plates sold for $5. 334-297-6493.

July 4th Star-Spangled Beach Party: Robin Lake, Callaway Gardens. Gates open at 7 a.m. Circus performances, beach games, music, miniature golf, picnicking, shuffleboard, swimming, Iceberg Island Floating Water Playground, Swingin’ Medallions, fireworks at dark. $12.50-$25. 800-225-5292.
