Home Fair aims to ‘sell Harris County’

The real estate industry has been in a bit of slump and Chris Meacham, partner at Meacham, Earley & Fowler, P.C., law firm, got tired of the “woe is me” attitude surrounding the business. He got together with two other real estate agents and asked “What can we do about it?”

Meacham is the brainchild and spokesperson for the Harris County Home Fair, an event that will take place on the Hamilton Square in Hamilton, Ga., from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday. Following the fair, from 1-4 p.m., open houses will be conducted throughout the county.

“We came up with a program to say ‘Harris County is for sale,’ ” said Meacham.

The fair part of the event will consist of booths representing the Harris County community. Mortgage brokers, bankers, home appraisers — “anybody who has anything to do with the real estate business,” said Meacham — will be on Hamilton Square, along with community representatives like the county commissioner, the Harris County school superintendent, the Harris County sheriff and other city officials.

Then from 1-4 p.m. all on-the-market houses in Harris County will be open to potential buyers.

Admission is free and vendor booths are $10. There will be inflatables for kids, live music and food and craft vendors.
