Artists for Pasaquan Day: Buy art, listen to music and tour the grounds of Eddie Owens Martin’s home

It’s one of those dilemmas that I can’t do anything about.

Pasaquan’s annual Artists for Pasaquan Day is the same day as Steeplechase at Callaway Gardens.

I’m usually covering Steeplechase for the next day’s Ledger-Enquirer, so I’ve never been able to attend Artist for Pasaquan Day.

Hours for Pasaquan are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Nov. 5. It’s actually the final day of the year that the late Eddie Owens Martin’s family home will be open for tours.

Unless you schedule a private tour, it will not reopen to the public until next April. It’s open the first Saturday of the month from April until November.

Though it can be mighty hot in the summer, the July opening is pretty neat. Martin was born on the Fourth of July, so that’s his “birthday” tour.

Artists who are scheduled to show their work, do some demonstrations and sell some of their pieces are Butch Anthony, Ned Berry, Anita Dugat-Greene, Joyce Hethcox, Bond Anderson, Christen Holloway, Miz Thang, Vicki Churchman, Ralph Frank, Bill Jones, Jazz, Mongo Man, Michael Weeks, Lamar Jones, JawJaw Girl, Bobby Jones, Cheryl Angela, David Snyder, Joanne Lea and Sam G.

Art will include pottery, painting, fabric collage, handspun and hand-dyed yarn, jewelry, musical instruments and mixed media.

Musicians who will play between 10:30 a.m.-5 p.m. are Joe Strings, Sean Rox, Jim Patrick, Tripp Wrigley, Bibb City Ramblers, Fiddler’s Blues Band, Rick Edwards and Friends and Bibb City Family Jam.

Tickets are $5; children 5 and younger get in free.

Call 229-649-9444.
