Here are the weirdest named places in Alabama

Lick Skillet, Normal and and Slick Lizard, Ala., are among the weirdest named places in the state, according to one reporter.

AL.com reporter Kelly Kazek has compiled a list of Alabama's 13 most unusual town names. "In most cases, these oddly named places are little more than spots in the road, unincorporated areas with nicknames that stuck," Kazek wrote.

Her top five are:

1. Boar Tush

2. The Bottle

3. Burnt Corn

4. Frog Eye

5. Intercourse

My favorite on the list is all the way at No. 13: Smut Eye, Ala., so-named for a blacksmith’s shop which served a "homemade ale that the local women called the devil's brew,” according to a 1999 Montgomery Advertiser story.
