"In the Garden" Concert Series: Enjoy live music in the historic Bradley Olmsted Garden at the Columbus Museum, 1251 Wynnton Road. This week features Athens, Ga., songstress Ruby the Rabbitfoot. Picnic baskets with food and drink are allowed. Register at $10 (member), $15.

Carmike summer: Carmike will feature a family-friendly movie. This week’s is “The Croods.” 10 a.m. Hollywood Ritz 13, 1683 Whittlesey Boulevard. $4 admission includes movie ticket, drink, popcorn and snack.

Radical reptiles: Meet and greet Oxbow Meadows’s resident reptiles, including snakes, alligators and turtles. Book signing: LeBron Matthews, former pastor at Eastern Heights Baptist Church in Columbus, has written a historical novel, “Tides of War,” and will be having a book signing at the Gazebo on Broadway during Uptown Market Days. Matthews, who has served for many years as a regular writer for LifeWay Christian Resources, said the book is about the pastor of a small church who joins the elite Columbus Guards at the outbreak of the Civil War. 706-596-0111

9th Annual Mountain Bike Race at Flat Rock Park: The 2014 Georgia State Championship Mountain Bike Race is back. Each year this event draws 300-400 racers and their families from areas as far away as Raleigh, N.C., and Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. This year’s event offers some new trail features and improvements, a new short track event on Saturday and local riders who are currently in contention for the top spots in the overall series standings.
