No W-2 yet? Here’s your GA employer’s deadline to hand it over & what to do if they don’t

But what if you are still lacking a few documents, maybe even perhaps the most important one: your W-2? Here’s what to know.
When does your employer have to get your W-2 to you?
In order to file your taxes, you’ll need all the necessary documents like your work 1099s, home mortgage documents, childcare expense documents, property tax records, donations and more. But what happens if your employer hasn’t provided your W-2 yet? Here’s when they are required to get it to you.
According to the Social Security Administration (SSA), Jan. 31 is the deadline for employers to send out all W-2s, either online or by mail. However, if the deadline falls on a Saturday, Sunday or legal holiday, the deadline will be the next business day.
Although your employer’s deadline to send out W-2s was Friday, Jan. 31, it may take a while to get to you via mail, but if you still haven’t received your W-2 by the middle of February, you should ask your employer when you can expect it to arrive. If you still haven’t received your W-2 by the end of February, you can call the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) by phone at (800) 829-1040.
