The London clinic which performed Wayne Rooney's hair transplant said they still get five requests a DAY for "a Rooney" - 15 years later.

Nadeem Khan, 55, is the CEO and founder of Harley Street Hair Clinic in London.

The Manchester United legend had two procedures at the clinic in 2011 and 2013 - widely regarded as the most famous hair transplant ever done.

Nadeem said surgeons at his clinic have completed around 3,000 transplants since then - including DOZENS of other celebrities - although they can't name them.

Global hair transplant procedures are exceeding 735,000 annually, a market projected to reach £10 to 12 billion ($13.5 to $16.2 billion) by 2030.

Nadeem said 15 years since Rooney's transplant hit the headlines, they are still getting five requests a DAY for "a Rooney" - and around 100 requests a day for procedures in total.

"The role that Wayne filled was showing what was possible with hair transplants," said Nadeem.

"That was the first positive press for a hair transplant clinic in the U.K. - the whole thing was a complete blur because we were bombarded by press after.

"But it led to a great belief and interest in hair transplants - it showed the everyday person that if you have a problem like that, it can be fixed.

"I realized after everything with Wayne that it doesn't have to be elitist.

"Now, I tend to avoid celebrity endorsements - I get influencers calling all the time asking for a transplant to share with their one million followers.

"We already did the most important hair transplant ever with Wayne, but we don't want it to feel out of reach for the average person.

"I value the regular person who saved for four years to get the surgery. Some influencers I operated on in the past barely even remembered my name."

After the first surgery, Rooney tweeted: "Just to confirm to all my followers I have had a hair transplant. I was going bald at 25 why not.

"I'm delighted with the result… I had it done in Harley Street Hair Clinic London. Thanks to all the staff who looked after me."

Transplants at Harley Street Hair Clinic cost between £2,000 (more than $2,500) and £15,000 (more than $20,000) depending on the number of grafts required.

Nadeem added: "Wayne doesn't know the impact that him coming out with his transplant in the public eye did.

"But he is quite a lovely, normal guy, who just loves football.

"He was very knowledgeable on the procedure and appreciative of what he had done.

"He was knocking in goals every week after the transplant, he was on fire. He was happy and confident - that's what it's all about."

Nadeem said his favorite clients are regular people, who have saved up for years, because he says the procedure means more to them than celebs.

He said: "The men who are 70 plus know how to have fun - I'm seeing more older men coming in.

"It's exciting - you can't do quite as much for them as for a young guy, but they want a bit of hair.

"A hair transplant is really the only thing you can do that's guaranteed to knock 10, 15, even 20 years off you a year later.

"That's the bit I enjoy."

He said they also perform a lot of transplants on transgender people, who want to go from a more masculine to a more feminine hairline.

But Nadeem stressed it's important to research and make sure you know what you're signing up for, and not just copying trends.

He added: "Nowadays people can forget it's still medical, they think it's as normal as going and getting their teeth polished.

"But I still need to stress the importance of doing your due diligence and researching it yourself."
