New Release Date For Season 3 of Drama From ‘Yellowstone' Creator

The newest chapter in Taylor Sheridan's hit thriller returns this summer. Season 3 of Lioness on Paramount+ premieres on August 2.

Lioness centers on a CIA special-operations group that recruits female operatives for undercover missions. Oscar winners Zoe Saldaña and Nicole Kidman star in the Sheridan drama.

The official premise from Paramount for Season 3 states that "Joe (Saldaña) walks the line between duty and home as unseen forces circle her world. Patterns appear where they shouldn't, names vanish, and paths rearrange. Guided by Kaitlyn (Kidman) and Westfield (Michael Kelly), Joe confronts enemies operating in the shadows, leaving her to reckon with a war that now reaches into every part of her life." Saldaña told Entertainment Weekly that Season 3 pushed her to her limit, admitting, "I didn't even know if I was gonna be able to pull it off."

Balancing personal and professional life is a constant theme in Lioness. Season 2 saw the group attempt to infiltrate an operation spanning both domestic and international operations. In the season finale, the mission puts Joe and the team in critical danger, but they survive. Joe is constantly dealing with the consequences of putting her career and the lives of others over her family and friends.

Kidman plays fellow CIA agent and Joe's boss, Kaitlyn Meade. The cast also includes Morgan Freeman as the United States Secretary of State. Laysela De Oliveira, Dave Annable, and LaMonica Garrett also star. Saldaña, Kidman, and Sheridan also serve as executive producers.

Sheridan is a prolific writer, director, and actor best known as the co-creator of Yellowstone. Sheridan, who has a deal with Paramount, is also the creator of numerous other hit shows, most recently Landman, Tulsa King, and The Madison. Yellowstone spawned multiple spinoffs as well. Per Deadline, Sheridan is expected to leave Paramount for NBC Universal in 2028 when his contract expires.

Season 3 of Lioness will premiere on Paramount+ on Sunday, August 2.
