Gone Girl, the 2014 Thriller Starring Ben Affleck, Joins Netflix on July 1
The first week of June is not yet over, but we're already seeing reports trickling out about what content Netflix will be adding in July.
Each month, Netflix performs extensive housekeeping of its streaming inventory. Dozens, if not hundreds, of titles leave, with a similarly large number of movies and series replacing them.
According to What's on Netflix's Kasey Moore, one of the movies joining Netflix next month is Gone Girl, David Fincher's 2014 psychological thriller based on Gillian Flynn's 2012 novel of the same name.
Ben Affleck headlines a stellar cast in the flick, which grossed nearly $370 million worldwide.
When is Gone Girl coming to Netflix?
Gone Girl will arrive on Netflix for subscribers on July 1, Moore writes. It is one of at least 10 new titles coming to Netflix that day, along with A Dog's Purpose, Enola Holmes 3, Leatherheads, Spider-Man: Homecoming and more.
"When his wife mysteriously vanishes on their fifth anniversary, a husband's suspicious behavior quickly turns him into the prime suspect in a national media circus," Moore summarizes the haunting film.
Gone Girl cast
Affleck plays Nick Dunne, the aforementioned desperate husband searching for his missing wife Amy Elliott Dunne, played by Rosamund Pike.
Neil Patrick Harris plays Desi Collings, Amy's well-to-do ex-boyfriend, with Tyler Perry portraying Tanner Bolt, Nick Dunne's lawyer. Additionally, Carrie Coon plays Nick's twin sister Margo in what was her first movie role.
Kim Dickens is featured as the lead detective in Amy Dunne's disappearance, with Patrick Fugit playing her partner. There are other reputable names in the film as well, including Emily Ratajkowski, Missi Pyle, Casey Wilson, Lola Kirke, Sela Ward and Scott Takeda.
Is Gone Girl available to stream anywhere else?
Currently, it is not available to subscribers on any major streaming platform. However, viewers are able to purchase the film for $3.99 on YouTube, Google Play, Fandango, Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV.
Overall, audiences have appreciated Gone Girl since its release. Not only did the movie perform well at the box office, but it also has an approval rating of 88% ("Certified Fresh") on Rotten Tomatoes and has an 8.1/10 mark on IMDb.
