Viewers Can't Stop Watching This Young Horse's Relatable Running Fail
Oh, we've all been there: when you try to do something cool and fall flat on your face, literally. And sometimes, the instant goes viral for all to see. This little horse had a bit of a humbling moment while practicing his jumps. He starts out cool as a cucumber, prancing beside Mom. But then he picks up the pace, turning it into a run, and adds a leap before falling to the ground. "Oopsie," the caption captures it perfectly.
Horses may be born knowing how to walk, but that doesn't always mean it's graceful. He isn't quite ready for the Triple Crown just yet. Fortunately, the future racer got back up and shook it off no problem.

TikTok viewers had a field day describing this scene. Many got into the mind of the mother horse, understanding full well what it means to look after a young one. "That turnaround stare at [the] toddler was the universal, 'Well, if you used your walking feet...'" @Blue_eyedKatie quipped. @nowajohansson5 added "The mare: 'What are you doing on the ground?'" Parenting challenges seem to extend across species.
However, it was @paintedhp who summed up the video like a champion: "Too much giddy and not enough up!" Exactly.

Why Young Horses Trip and Fall During Play
Baby horses aren't like baby humans (or other primates). They're born with enough muscle and coordination to walk within hours. That doesn't mean they have running and jumping down yet. At first, these steps are extremely wobbly.
Racehorses who compete at elite levels, like in the Kentucky Derby, are 3 years old, one of the prime ages for them athletically. It takes a bit to work up to that, though.
At birth, horses have some balance issues and have not yet settled into a recognizable gait (something far more important and consistent for horses than humans). It takes a while to develop the proper muscle tone for running, too. At 6 months old, horses are nearly grown and will settle into a proper run.
Until then, expect a few spills from overeager beasties like this one.
