Maja Chwalinska's Family, Parents, and Whether She Has a Boyfriend

Maja Chwalinska is a Polish tennis star who is competing in the French Open 2026 final. That has increased interest in her bio, family, and whether she has a boyfriend.

Chwalinska appears to currently be single, as there is no hint that she has a boyfriend. She has been very candid, however, about her favorite tennis player growing up and struggles with depression. Her parents have spoken about her tennis career in the past.

What does she do outside tennis? Chwalinska "has the traditional hobbies of spending time with friends, going shopping and indulging in a coffee or tea, adding that sport is her main passion," WTA Tennis reports. "I think I'm dorky, but I feel they know it already. I like to have fun. I love people as well, so I think I'm friendly as well."

Maja Chwalinska Revealed That She Was a Roger Federer Fan Growing Up in Poland

Growing up, Chwalinska said she enjoyed watching Roger Federer the most. "Oh, [Roger] Federer for sure," Chwalinska said. "At the beginning it was only Federer. I was like a No. 1 fan," she told WTA Tennis.

"Then when I grew up, Rafa [Nadal] was a huge inspiration for me, and now Novak [Djokovic] also. Yeah, the Big Three. I'm very grateful that I grew up in this kind of era," she said, according to WTA Tennis.

When she was 13, her dad gave an interview to TVP Katowice.

"She has her entire day planned out from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.," her father, Tomasz, said, "organising everything around doing her homework at school so she doesn't have to miss training."

"Maja is still a child, but right now she has no time for childhood," added Marcela, her mother. "And she certainly won't have it in the future."

Growing up Maja became close friends with another Polish tennis star, Iga Swiatek.

"They have also competed together in national colours and the pair were runners-up in the Australian Open 2017 girls' doubles," Roland Garros says.

"We've known each other since we were 10 years old," Chwalinska revealed to Roland Garros. "We definitely have a long history together, she's a great champion and a huge inspiration for all of us in Poland."

Maja Chwalinska Struggled With Depression That She Associated With Professional Tennis

Five years ago, when Chwalinska was 19 years old and lost at the first-round at Wimbeldon, she quit tennis and announced she had struggled with depress since 2019, WTA Tennis reported. Born in Poland, she has played tennis since age 4. She is ranked number 114th in the world. She is 24 years old and has earned almost a million dollars in prize money over the course of her career.

She associated tennis with "pressure, stress and crying," WTA Tennis reported.

"After returning to live at her family home, being surrounded by her close friends and seeing a specialist, Chwalinska began to heal. A key part of that healing was simply announcing her battle with depression, and she began to understand the immense support she had in her close circle," WTA Tennis explained, adding that she ran and boxed to help with her mental health issues.

"The results don't define me as much as they did before," Chwalinska said to WTA Tennis. "I just couldn't differentiate like Maja and tennis player. I was just one. I just needed time to kind of figure it out, and also do something else, -- not just tennis.

"I only played tennis and I felt that it's only tennis out there. But I just know that there are many more things outside tennis that you can do and you can enjoy. I think that I needed time to figure things out for myself."
