51 Years Ago Today: Legendary Rock Band Released One Of Its Most Underrated Albums
Saturday marks 51 years since one of the most influential rock bands of all time released one of its hidden gem albums.
The first week of June marks several anniversaries for the Rolling Stones. Monday marked the 61st anniversary of the group's first landing in the United States. Tuesday marked 61 years since the band made its first appearance on American television, an interview for The Les Crane Show.
Additionally, Thursday marked 61 years since the Rolling Stones released their signature song, "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction."
Speaking of Rolling Stones anniversaries in the first week of June, today marks 51 years since they released their compilation album, Made in the Shade.
The Rolling Stones released their 12th album, It's Only Rock 'n Roll, in Oct. 1974. The album included hits like "If You Can't Rock Me," "It's Only Rock 'n Roll (But I Like It)," and "Fingerprint File."
Eight months later, they released Made in the Shade on June 6, 1975. The album included their 1971 No. 1 hit, "Brown Sugar," as well as "Wild Horses" and "Angie."
Mick Jagger Is Ready to Tour Again Soon
Jagger was recently interviewed on BBC Radio 2's Tracks of My Years (h/t Billboard.com), where he expressed hope to tour again soon. Jagger, who turns 73 on July 26, warned that it likely wouldn't happen this year.
"I'd love to go on tour, I can't wait," Jagger said. "I don't think it's going to be this year. But hopefully it's going to be as soon as possible."
The Rolling Stones' most recent tour, Hackney Diamonds, concluded on July 21, 2024, in Ridgedale, Missouri.
