Wondering about trash collection for Memorial day in Columbus? See hours of operation
Columbus has rearranged its trash and waste collection several times over the past few years. As recently as January of 2024 the Columbus City Council added the item to the agenda, citing complaints from citizens’ trash and yard waste not getting picked up.
The day your trash, recycling and yard waste is picked depends wholly on what part of town you live in. See the map below for a more detailed schedule.
Northwest to west central Columbus - Monday for garbage and recycling; Tuesday for yard and bulk waste.
South Columbus - Monday for yard and bulk waste; Tuesday for garbage and recycling.
East Columbus - Thursday for yard and bulk waste; Friday for garbage and recycling.
North Central Columbus - Thursday for garbage and recycling; Friday for yard and bulk waste.
The holiday obviously complicates things further, as Memorial Day falls on a Monday, and there will be no trash pick up that day. The holiday schedule is as follows:
- Monday’s trash routes will be picked up on Wednesday, May 29.
- Tuesday’s routes will be picked up as normal on Tuesday, May 28.
- Wednesday through Friday will be on the regular weekly schedule.
